The principal Bench of National Green Tribunal has directed the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board take appropriate action in accordance with law and conserve the Kithiganahalli lake situated in Bommasandra Pura Sabha, Anekal.

A bench led by Chairperson Adarsh Kumar Goel while hearing a petition filed by one Dr Sanjay Rao said "Let the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) look into the matter, take appropriate action in accordance with law and furnish a factual and action taken report in the matter within one month by e-mail."

The NGT posted the matter for further hearing on January 10, 2020. It also warned authorities that "Needless to say that order of National Green Tribunal is binding as a decree of Court and non-compliance is actionable by way of punitive action including prosecution, in terms of the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010."
