West Bengal Advocate General Kishore Datta, who frequently appeared for the state before the Calcutta High Court, has resigned from his position.

Datta has reportedly sent his resignation in a letter addressed to West Bengal Governor RN Ravi.

The Senior Advocate's appointment had been confirmed by the Governor's office on 16th December 2023, following the resignation of Sr Advocate SN Mookherjee, who held the post of AG from 2021 and resigned on November 10, 2023, citing personal reasons.

This marks the end of a second stint as AG for Datta, who had previously held the post from 2017 to 2021 before resigning.
