Yash Paul Bourney Sworn In As Judge Of Jammu & Kashmir And Ladakh High Court
Senior Judicial Officer Yash Paul Bourney was sworn in as a Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh at a ceremony held in the Chief Justice's Court at the Srinagar Wing of the High Court on Tuesday.
The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati. The Warrant of Appointment was read out by M.K. Sharma, Registrar General of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, who also conducted the proceedings.
Several judges of the High Court attended the ceremony, while some joined virtually from the Jammu Wing. Family members, relatives and friends of Justice Bourney were also present.
The ceremony was attended by judicial officers, senior advocates, law officers, members of the Bar, and government officials, including representatives of the Central Administrative Tribunal and the Jammu & Kashmir administration.
The Ministry of Law and Justice notified Justice Bourney's appointment as a Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on September 19, 2026.
Born on August 25, 1967, in Kathua district, Justice Bourney has held several judicial and administrative positions during his career, including Principal District & Sessions Judge in Leh, Baramulla, Udhampur and Jammu, and Special Judge (Anti-Corruption) in Srinagar and Jammu. He has also served as Member Secretary of the J&K Legal Services Authority, Registrar Vigilance of the High Court, and Director of the J&K Judicial Academy. Before his elevation, he was serving as Member of the J&K Special Tribunal, Jammu.
