Terminating services of Advocate General Ranji Thomas, Governor J.P. Rajkhowa has appointed Sishir Dutta, a senior Advocate of the Gauhati High Court as the new Advocate General of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Governor also appointed Anil Srivastav as the Additional Advocate General-cum-Standing Counsel for Arunachal Pradesh before the Supreme Court. Mr. Srivastav will represent for the State in appeals, review, revisions and miscellaneous cases before the Supreme Court and Gauhati High Court. Mr. Srivastav replaces Mr. R.H. Nabam.

President Pranab Mukherjee had issued a Proclamation under Article 356(1) of the Constitution, imposing President’s Rule in AP, keeping the Legislative Assembly of the State in suspended animation with effect from January 26, 2016. The issue of proclamation was recommended by the Union Cabinet, taking cognizance of the constitutional breakdown in the State, as reported by the Governor. Since the imposition of President Rule, changes in Secretary and Deputy Commissioner level administration have already been effected.
