The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has notified that the income tax department can share taxpayer's information with the deputy director general of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

“In pursuance of sub-clause (ii) of clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 138 of the Income-tax Act, 1961, the Central Government hereby specifies Deputy Director General (Tech Development Division), Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Government of India for the purposes of the said clause,” the notification read.

Section 138(1)(a) provides for suo-moto disclosure of the information by the Central Government, CBDT or any other authority authorised by the Board by general or special order.
