BREAKING | Delhi Court Rejects CJP Leader Ratna Singh's Plea For FIR Against Cops Over 'Illegal Detention'
A Delhi Court on Saturday (October 10) rejected Cockroach Janta Party's legal affairs head Ratna Singh's plea seeking registration of FIR against policemen alleging wrongful confinement as well as restraining her from going to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in relation to the conduct of SIR.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abhinav Pandey, Saket Courts also dismissed Singh's plea seeking her release from alleged wrongful confinement as being not maintainable.
In its order, the Court said that Singh failed to mention jurisdiction in which alleged offences were committed, no public servant was specified against whom the allegations were made, and that no affidavit was annexed regarding veracity of allegations.
Singh was represented by advocate Adit S Pujari.
The plea states that earlier today while Singh was proceeding towards Supreme Court with two fellow advocates, to be part of protest of lawyers, she was not permitted to move from outside her house.
It adds that two cars blocked her and policemen remain outside the car doors. Singh has said that video of the incident may be seen by the Court.
Singh has said that she is being wrongfully confined and restraint and is facing threat to her life and liberty.
Notably, earlier today a group of lawyers who were holding a protest march against the Chief Election Commissioner and the Special Intensive Revision were detained by the personnel of Delhi Police and the Central Reserve Police Force near the Supreme Court.
However, after the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) urgently wrote to the Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, about several advocates being detained and taken to Yamuna Sports Complex for peacefully protesting outside the Supreme Court, the CJI has communicated to the authorities that the lawyers be released.
