'Jana Nayagan' Movie Case : Live Updates From Madras High Court Hearing | CBFC Appeal against Vijay's Film
ASG: The decision taken after viewing of the film by examining committee regarding 14 cuts. It was only an intermediary decision. Not a final decision.
ASG: However, the court decided to hear the matter based on materials before it. Heard the matter. Reserved orders and passed orders on 9/1/26 setting aside the decision
ASG: When the matter was taken up, I told them that the decision of 5/1 was not challenged and even for issuing mandamus, we should be permitted to file counter
ASG: We produced the originals on 7/1/26. The judge perused them in her chamber and then the hearing commenced post noon.
CJ: Were any orders passed on 6/1?
ASG: We were asked to produce original copies of the record and the complaint based on which decision was made to send to revising committee. We were asked to produce original on next date at 2:15pm
ASG: Look at the prayer in the writ petition my lord. After the 22/12 communication, even as per their affidavit, there was a communication on 5/1 putting the earlier decision on hold and sending it for review. As per their own affidavit
ASG: on 5/1, an information was there that it's being sent to review committee. But this has not been challenged before court. But the court did not give us time to file counter. Posted the case to next date (7/1/26)
