Justices Rajesh Bindal and Aravind Kumar, formerly the Chief Justices of Allahabad and Gujarat High Courts respectively, took oath as Supreme Court judges on Monday. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud administered the oath of office to them in the presence of all the judges.

With their appointments, the Supreme Court will have full working strength of 34 judges.

It was on January 31 that the Supreme Court collegium recommended their names for elevation. The Centre notified their appointments on February 10.

This is the second swearing-in ceremony happening in the Supreme Court within a span of one week. Last Monday, five judges - Justices Pankaj Mithal, Sanjay Karol, PV Sanjay Kumar, Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Manoj Mishra- had taken oath.
