Aam Aadmi Party head and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed an application in the Delhi High Court seeking the recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma from the liquor policy case.
Kejriwal is likely to appear and argue the application himself.
Justice SK Sharma is hearing the revision petition filed by the CBI challenging the trial court's order discharging Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and other accused from the liquor policy case.
Kejriwal has raised apprehensions of bias on the part of Justice Sharma, and has sought her recusal from the case. Earlier, he had made a request to the High Court Chief Justice seeking the assignment of the case to another bench. That request, made on the administrative side, was rejected, saying that the allotment to Justice Sharma was as per the existing roster.
Now, Kejriwal has filed an application on the judicial side.

UPDATE: Court changes date to Monday at 2:30 PM.
Court: We will fix it for Thursday.
SGI: This is very serious which has happened in the capital of this country.
Court lists the matter for hearing on Thursday at 2:30 PM.
Court: If anyone else wants to file application for recusal, please do that so that I can decide it once and for all.
Court: Reply, if any, be filed. Advance copy be served. Both parties may file written submissions.
Court records: Respondent no. 18 (Kejriwal) appears in person. This court takes this application on record. Registry may take it on record digitally. Copy received.
SGI calls the application frivolous, vexatious allegations.
Court: You will be arguing your case yourself?
Kejriwal: I will argue this application myself.
SGI: Except 1-2 persons no one has filed reply. In case recusal applications are to be rejected, this will be contempt of court.
Kejriwal: I filed recusal application as per HC procedure. Petitioner in person is not allowed to do e-filing. Your lordships may take it on record.
Court: I will issue notice on this.
SGI: Some people in this country make career out of making serious allegations. There are allegations against the institution and we will support the institution.
SGI: I don't have any problem in him appearing in person but he also has engaged a lawyer. He has not discharged the lawyer. In case he has to appear, his lawyer cannot appear and henceforth he should only appear.
SGI: If anyone else wants to join, they can be given one week and every one should appear together. If your lordships are pleased to allow recusal application, atleast pleadings have to be completed.
SGI: On last occasion that they filed SLP and writ petition (regarding recusal). I predicated that would be kept in objection and they wont remove it. We have received 7 applications seeking your recusal. This is very serious.
