National Law School of India University at Bengaluru has retained its No. 1 position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for Law Institutions in 2023. This is the 6th year in a row that the University has secured the top spot in the NIRF rankings. NLSIU has scored 80.52 in this years ranking

National Law University at Delhi has secured the second rank with 73.91. NALSAR University of Law is at 3rd rank, followed by West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences. Jamia Millia Islamia,New Delhi and Symbiosis Law School are at 5th and 6th positions respectively.

Launched in 2015 by the HRD Ministry (now the Ministry of Education), the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranks higher educational institutions across India. The institutes are ranked under various categories including universities, colleges, engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, architecture, dental and research. The category of Law was added to the rankings in 2018, and since then, NLSIU has consistently maintained the top rank.
