In view of the collapse of the Congress-JD(S) government in Karnataka after it failed to pass the trust vote held on Tuesday, the CJI-led bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday permitted the withdrawal of the writ petition filed by two MLAs for holding trust vote in Karnataka assembly.
The petition had sought a direction to hold trust vote for the Congress-JD(S) Government in Karnataka by 5 PM on Monday.
When the petition was taken on Tuesday, Senior Advocate Dr A M Singhvi appearing for the Speaker submitted that the trust vote was likely to take place by evening that day. Based on that, the Court had adjourned the hearing.
The petition was filed by KPJP MLA R Shankar and independent MLA Nagesh stating that they had withdrawn their support to ruling coalition, making it a minority government.
Taking advantage of the logjam, the Government, which is in minority, is taking several executive decisions like transferring the Police Officers, IAS officers, other Officials etc., alleged the petitioners.
