The Supreme Court yesterday released an official document with details of the recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium during the term of the present Chief Justice of India, BR Gavai, who is retiring tomorrow.

As per the document, the Collegium made 93 recommendations for High Courts from May 14, the date on which Justice Gavai took over as the CJI.

Out of the 129 candidates, 93 were approved by the Supreme Court Collegium. Notifications for appointment have been issued by the Union Government in respect of 90 approved names, and three names are still pending with them. 

11 of them belonged to Other Backward Classes/Backward Classes. 10 are from the Scheduled Castes and 13 are from the minority communities. There are 15 women in the list.

The candidates who are related to sitting or retired judges are 5.

It was during the term of CJI Sanjiv Khanna that the Supreme Court started disclosing the details of the Collegium recommendations made during a period with the background of the candidates.
