The Supreme Court has revised its interim order passed in the petition of Gautam Buddh Nagar District(Noida) Magistrate Medha Roopam, specifying that the stay is only on the adverse comments of the Allahabad High Court against the officer and its direction to pay compensation to student Akriti Chaudhary, who was under the National Security Act in connection with the Noida workers' protest.

In other words, the High Court's judgment quashing the detention of Chaudhary has not been stayed.

As per the order which was uploaded yesterday, the entire High Court judgment was stayed, because it stated:  "Till the matter is heard on merits, the operation of the impugned judgment, particularly, para Nos. 27 to 33 shall remain stayed."

In the revised order, which was subsequently uploaded, it has been specified that "till the matter is heard on merits, the operation of paras nos. 27 to 33 of the impugned judgment including award of costs and strictures against the petitioner shall remain stayed."

A bench comprising Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice NK Singh had heard the petitions filed by Medha Roopam and the State of Uttar Pradesh against the High Court's judgment.

Paragraphs 27-33 of the High Court's judgment contained the strictures against the DM and the direction to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation to the student, which was to be recovered from the salary of Medha Roopam.
