Wife's Plea Against Sonam Wangchuk's Admission In Govt Hospital : Live Updates From Delhi High Court Sunday Hearing

A doctor says “they dont have confidence in us. Question of faith is there.”

Sibal; There is policemen. His BP went up. They are inside room. What is going on? Are they treating patient?

ASG: it is incorrect. No policeman inside.

ASG: The govt is duty bound. I say with highest sense of responsibility. The govt has to be extra careful. Whatever has to happen to him, it will have consequences. This I am saying not as my fundamental argument but something which is beneath the cover. Its not there ex facie but we have to be careful. From time he was in hospital, there has been cooperation and non-cooperation.

Sibal: i am entitled to doctor and hospital of my choice. If govt doctors believe, no medical intervention given they will be removed. I am only saying why not hospital of my choice. What is govt problem with that?

Then why doubt govt doctor? Court

Sibal: i am not doubting. I am ready for everything.

Sibal: Nothing to show. Everything is normal. On what basis they detained me or took me forcibly? Nothing to show.

Court: court has to see larger picture. Mr. Wangchuk is not in detention but wife and brother etc have been given access.

Sibal: In Ladakh he was on fast for 35 days, no intervention.

Court: human body is such we never know.

Sibal: They are duty bound to look after me. I accept it but i have to go to hospital of my choice. If AIIMS doctor has to be a part I don't mind.

Court asks why the government even stepped in.

Sibal: When order was passed, i was not a party. Ex parte against me. I want treatment at hospital of my choice. How can govt object to that?

Is it not courts duty to ensure he is medically taken care of after 18 days of fast? Court asks

Court: nothing administered to him physically.

Sibal: Medanta is a world renowned hospital.

He is dehydrated. He needs carbs with potassium. If he doesn’t have that he takes another course which is the downside: Doctor

Sibal: He is not in detention. No case against him. Is a citizen of india not entitled to say i want to go to hospital of my choice?

Doctor: He needs to have IV vitamins. He has not allowing IV access. Some parameters are borderline. Sodium and sugar levels are on lower side than normal. It is important, he is on ketosis. He is breaking down fat.

Doctor: We have been treating him. Monitoring him closely. He started oral fluids yesterday. He took potassium orals yesterday, oral ORS without sugar. We have been trying to talk to him for fluids. He has denied it.
