Orissa High Court Bar Association To Host Symposium On 'Balancing Freedom Of Speech and Expression Vis-à-Vis Regulation In The Digital Age'
The High Court Bar Association, Orissa, is set to host a symposium on the theme “Balancing Freedom of Speech and Expression vis-à-vis Regulation in the Digital Age” on 14 December 2025 (Sunday) at 10:30 a.m. The event will be held at Saheed Bhawan, Cuttack.
Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, will attend the programme as the Chief Guest. Justice Harish Tandon, Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court will deliver the keynote address as the Chief Speaker. The symposium will be graced by distinguished members of the judiciary and the Bar.
The event will also feature two eminent Guests of Honour:

Shri Avijit Patnaik, Advocate & Secretary, High Court Bar Association, will introduce the guests. The function will be presided over by Shri Manoj Kumar Mishra, Senior Advocate and President of the High Court Bar Association. The programme will conclude with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Shri Sidhartha Das, Advocate and Vice President, OHCBA
The symposium aims to deliberate on the evolving contours of free speech in the digital era, exploring constitutional protections, regulatory challenges, and the need for a balanced legal framework amid rapid technological transformation.
The programme will include a felicitation ceremony honouring advocates who have completed over 50 years of practice, acknowledging their long-standing contribution to the legal profession. Judges who secured distinctions in the All India Judges Badminton Championship Tournament will also be felicitated. Additionally, Shri Sanjay Kumar Mohapatra, Advocate, will be honoured for his contributions to Bar events.
The High Court Bar Association has invited members of the Bar and the wider legal fraternity to participate in the programme.
