Centre Notifies Appointment Of Justice Lisa Gill As Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court

The Central Government has notified the appointment of Justice Lisa Gill as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India, in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the President is pleased to appoint Smt. Justice Lisa Gill, Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court (PHC: Punjab and Haryana)as Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court," Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal posted on social media.

Last month, Justice Gill was transferred from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to the Andhra Pradesh High Court, in anticipation of the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice of the AP HC The Supreme Court Collegium's decision was as per its newly adopted policy for early transfers of prospective Chief Justices, at least two months ahead of the retirement of the incumbent, so that the new Judge can familiarise with the High Court.
