TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee's Wife Moves Calcutta High Court Seeking Permission To Travel Abroad

Rujira Banerjee Narula, wife of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, has approached the Calcutta High Court seeking permission to travel abroad after a prior order restrained her from leaving the country without approval.

The matter was mentioned before a vacation bench of Justice Partha Sarathi Sen, who permitted the petition to be taken on record.

Reports indicate that Narula has sought permission to travel overseas in view of the subsisting restraint on foreign travel without prior approval, and rejection of permission for the same by another court.

Notably, Abhishek Banerjee has also been prohibited from travelling abroad by the High Court after a case was filed against him for allegedly objectionable remarks against Home Minister Amit Shah at an election rally.

A coordinate bench of the High Court had protected Banerjee from coercive action in that case, subject to his complete cooperation with the investigation.
