The Delhi High Court has directed the authorities to consider a complaint alleging illegal encroachment near the Qutub Minar complex in Delhi's Mehrauli area.

The matter was heard by a division bench of Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela.

The petitioner stated that he had written to the concerned authorities, including the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), flagging the illegal constructions that had come up in the Qutub Sarai area. The petitioner stated that the Qutub was a heritage monument and thus sought the demolition of the illegal structures.

In considering the submissions of the petitioner, the court directed the concerned authorities to consider the complaint raised by the petitioner and to take any lawful action that may be authorised under the relevant statutes.

Accordingly, it disposed of the plea.
