Delhi High Court Seeks NTA's Response On Plea Challenging Answer Key For NEET-UG 2026

The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice on a plea filed by a girl challenging the National Testing Agency's (NTA) final answer key for for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Under Graduate), 2026.

Justice Jasmeet Singh sought response of NTA as well as Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The plea has been filed in relation to a question of Biology question, alleging that it is contrary to the prescribed NCERT textbook and has wrongly deprived her of five marks, adversely affecting her rank and prospects of admission to a medical college.

The petitioner, Buggaveeti Kriti, seeks quashing of the answer assigned to Question No. 143 of Test Booklet Code 70 in the final answer key dated July 16, along with consequential revision of her score card and grant of all consequential benefits.

According to the plea, the disputed question relates to the chapter “Evolution” from the NCERT Class XII Biology textbook, which forms part of the notified NEET syllabus. The controversy centres on two statements in the question.

The plea states that after publication of the provisional answer key, she submitted an objection within the prescribed time. It adds that the acknowledged receipt of the objection and informed her that it would be examined by subject experts before finalisation of the answer key.

However, despite the objection, the petition said, the final answer key retained Option 1 without disclosing any reasons for rejecting the challenge.

The petitioner alleges that the NTA acted arbitrarily by rejecting her objection without assigning reasons and by continuing with an answer key allegedly inconsistent with the notified syllabus.

The petitioner is represented by Advocates Abhinay Sharma along with S Lakshmi Iyer, Pooran Chand Roy and Kirti Vyas.
