Delhi High Court Restrains Politician K Kavitha, Others From Publishing Defamatory Allegations Against 'The Pioneer'
The Delhi High Court on Thursday restrained Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) leader K Kavitha and various others, including YouTube channels, from publishing any content containing imputations and allegations against “The Pioneer” newspaper.
Justice Sachin Datta issued summons in the suit filed by CMYK Printech, which publishes the newspaper, against Kavitha and various YouTube channels and online publishers.
The suit was filed over the allegations that Kavitha said that The Pioneer newspaper was acquired and controlled by her brother, a leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party, and that the newspaper must not be trusted anymore.
The counsel appearing for the newspaper contending that the allegations are false and that the same were being posted and shared on social media, causing damage.
After hearing the parties, the Court restrained K Kavitha from publishing, republishing, broadcasting or disseminating in any manner, the allegedly defamatory statement and imputations contained in the suit or any other content containing similar material on any platform.
The Court also restrained 14 other defendants which include journalists, YouTube channels and digital platforms.
The Court issued summons in the suit and directed that written statements be filed. It also issued notice on interim injunction application filed by the newspaper.
