The Gauhati High Court has granted regular bail to a man arrested for allegedly posting an objectionable Facebook comment in connection with a bomb blast near the Red Fort.
Justice Pranjal Das, while allowing the bail application, observed, “Without going into the merit of the case; only considering the period of detention and completion of investigation, petitioner shall be allowed to go on bail bond of Rs.25,000/- with one suitable surety of like amount to the satisfaction of the learned concerned Court.”
As per the case placed before the Court, the petitioner was arrested on 13.11.2025 in connection with a case registered under Sections 152, 196(1), 197(2) and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The FIR pertained to the posting of an objectionable comment on a Facebook post in connection with a bomb blast near the Red Fort at Delhi.
During the hearing, it was also brought to the Court's notice by the Additional Public Prosecutor that the investigation was almost complete and that the charge sheet had already been submitted.
Accordingly, while granting the bail, the Court further directed that the petitioner shall cooperate with the investigation, shall not hamper or tamper with evidence, and shall not try to influence any witnesses, making it clear, “Violation or breach of condition(s) shall entail cancellation of the bail.”
The bail application was consewuently disposed of.
