The Gujarat High Court on Friday (January 9) directed no coercive action against 'Palace of Sachin' located in Surat, after members of the royal family of Sachin moved the court seeking protection of the palace from any such action.

During the hearing senior counsel appearing for the petitioners submitted before Justice Mauna M Bhatt, "We have agreed to surrender some portion of the land...Palace of Sachin, erstwhile ruler of Sachi in Surat. We have additional area. We only want a slight shifting...so that palace is not demolished".

"We have agreed that we will surrender a portion of that land so that our palace is not destroyed," he said.

Referring to the map of the area the counsel said, "A dotted line above the palace, this area we have agreed to surrender. This is our open area plot no. 43A, or we are willing to shift the line a little upward so that palace is not demolished...Our only request is that instead of demolishing palace, you can shift a little bit and we will give that additional land upward".

Meanwhile the counsel for the Municipal Corporation of Surat submitted that the authorities had received possession of the concerned area and that the action was taken pursuant to surrendering of land by the petitioners.

The court in its order dictated:

"The senior counsel has submitted that pursuant to notice dated 29-10-2025 the possession of area of land which the petitioner has surrendered is directed to be taken within period of seven days. The petitioners are not against surrender of the land. The only request is if the land is little bit considered for surrender in upward measurement it would save the constructed palace...".

Issuing notice on the plea the court said that "the only question remain with regard to save the construction of palace by taking land little bit upwards or alternative land available to petitioner, issue notice...No coercive action with regard to construction of a palace which is subject of this petition to be taken till the next date of hearing".
