Congress MLA Sebastian MJ's Election Challenged Before Kerala High Court
Two election petitions have been filed before the Kerala High Court challenging the election of Congress MLA Sebastian M. J. from the Poonjar Assembly constituency in the 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections.
Sebastian, the Indian National Congress (INC) candidate from the Poonjar constituency in Kottayam district, secured 56,900 votes and defeated sitting MLA Sebastian Kulathunkal of the Kerala Congress (M) by a margin of 6,693 votes.
The election petitions have been filed by two voters from the constituency.
Today, when the matter came before Justice S. Manu the counsel for the petitioners sought time to cure defects in filing.
The Court granted time to cure the defects and posted the matter after two weeks.
