Congress leader and lawyer Laly Vincent has approached the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail in a case registered against alleging her involvement in a CSR scam.
The allegation is that Laly Vincent along with the other 6 accused persons after collecting money from various persons and promised to provide two-wheelers at a subsidized price by securing the remaining funds through CSR contributions from companies.
Justice P V Kunhikrishnan orally stated, “Its a dangerous case, tell your client, anyways don't arrest… I am told that about 50 lakhs is credited to her account….”
The crime was registered with Laly Vincent as an accused in a case alleging the commission of offences punishable under Sections 316 (2), 318(4) of the BNS at Kannur Town South Police Station.
The petitioner in her bail application has rejected all the allegations against her.
It is stated that she has been arrayed as accused in the present case only because she used to give legal advice to Ananthakrishnan who was arrayed as the first accused in this case.
It is stated that the above Ananthakrishnan is also arrayed as an accused in a National NGO Confederation scam wherein women were promised scooters at subsidized rates.
It is stated that she is arrayed as an accused only because of these allegations against Ananthakrishnan, who was her client. The petitioner submitted that she is wrongly implicated in these cases when she has only given legal advice to her client.
In her bail application, she further stated that she is accused in this case to tarnish her image for various political reasons.
