The National Lok Adalat was held under the overall supervision of Hon'ble Mr. Justice Suvir Sehgal, Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee.
Eight Lok Adalat Benches were constituted to take up the matters suitable for settlement, with a focus on promoting amicable dispute resolution between the parties. The Hon'ble Benches were headed by Hon'ble Mrs. Justice Sudeepti Sharma, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Ramesh Chander Dimri, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Pravindra Singh Chauhan, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Gaur, Hon'ble Ms. Justice Puja Chopra, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Sunish Bindlish, Hon'ble Ms. Justice Divya Sharma and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Ravinder Malik.
A total number of 723 cases were listed before the Hon'ble Lok Adalat Benches for consideration, and 388 cases were successfully disposed of through mutual settlement. The settled matters were predominantly Motor Accident Claim cases. The total amount awarded in these settlements was ₹ 17,86,77,962/-.
Justice Sudeepti Sharma disposed of matter of Rs 3,47,13,000 and 64 cases.
The National Lok Adalat is a recurring initiative of NALSA aimed at reducing pendency and encouraging resolution of disputes through alternative methods. It provides an accessible, cost-effective, and expeditious platform for litigants to settle their cases without prolonged litigation.
The High Court Legal Services Committee expressed its gratitude to the Hon'ble Judges, Members of the Bar, Parties, and Court Staff for their cooperation in the smooth conduct of the National Lok Adalat. The Committee intends to identify more cases in future so that more cases are settled in National Lok Adalat, as stated by the Authorities.
