Rajasthan High Court Issues Notice To Saudi Embassy Over Delay In Repatriation Of Indian Worker's Mortal Remains

The Rajasthan High Court has issued notice to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia located in New Delhi to expedite the repatriation of mortal remains of the petitioner's son who was working there and passed away in November 2025.

The bench of Dr. Justice Nupur Bhati was hearing a petition filed by a father whose son was working in Saudi Arabia on a valid work visa, and passed away on November 13, 2025. However, till date, they were awaiting to receive his mortal remains.

The Court recorded the submission by the State's counsel that as per the email received from the Community Welfare, Riyadh, petitioner's son had committed suicide, and the police authorities in Saudi Arabia were still conducting their investigation and awaiting relevant forensic documents.

It was further submitted that the authorities were actively pursuing the matter to expedite the repatriation of mortal remains to India.

In this background, the Court opined that it would be in the interest of justice to call upon the Counsellor, Head of Consular Division, Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Accordingly, it was directed to issue the relevant notice, and send a copy of this order by email for service upon the Counsellor.

The matter has been listed on December 17, 2025.
