iProbono invites application for pro bono panels of lawyers in Maharashtra, West Bengal and Karnataka to represent disadvantaged individuals and civil society organisations.

About the Organisation

iProbono's mission is to enable people to access their rights in pursuit of a just society. In 2015, iProbono constituted panels of criminal and civil advocates for pro bono legal services in the Supreme Court & the Delhi High Court and in 2018 for low bono legal services in various District Courts. Since then, lawyers have provided quality legal representation to hundreds of disadvantaged individuals while building a culture of pro bono in the legal profession. This year, iProbono is launching its latest initiative: Panels of motivated lawyers in Maharashtra, West Bengal and Karnataka willing to do pro bono/low bono legal work to help secure justice for vulnerable individuals and low-income communities.

Who can Apply?

Trial Courts

  • Lawyers with 3 years of experience in drafting, filing and appearing before trial and district courts in Maharashtra, Karnataka or West Bengal.
  • Applicants should be willing to undergo training as deemed appropriate after the panel is constituted.
  • Reduced fees are payable to the trial panel advocates and a schedule of fees can be communicated to applicants upon request.

Appellate Courts

  • Lawyers with 5 years of experience in drafting, filing and appearing before the Bombay High Court, Calcutta High Court or Bangalore High Court.

Selection Process:

Interested applicants are requested to send their CV and a cover letter outlining their interest to recruitment@i-probono.com. The last date to apply is 7 February 2021.

Shortlisted applicants will be selected and interviewed in consultation with senior lawyers and experts in the field.

Applicants are requested to highlight in their applications whether they have experience in civil or criminal side practice.

Preference will be given to lawyers who have a regular practice in these courts, and have experience handling human trafficking and child sexual abuse matters.
