The Delhi Journal for Law and Justice (DJLJ) is the student-run journal of Law Centre-II, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. It is a double-blind peer-reviewed academic journal focused on publishing original, high-quality research in the field of law and justice. The journal encourages discussion on important legal issues and promotes critical engagement with legal theories and practices. It contributes to the ongoing discussion on justice, governance, rights, and duties in India and beyond.

The aims and scope of DJLJ are:
A. To publish original, peer-reviewed work of law students that addresses current legal and policy challenges in India and other countries.
B. To support interdisciplinary research that incorporates insights from Political Science, Economics, Sociology, History, and other relevant fields, enhancing the understanding of law and justice.
C. To provide a platform for new and established scholars, practitioners, and law students to engage in informed and critical discussions that generate new legal knowledge.
D. To encourage contributions that connect legal theory with practice by combining empirical research, case studies, and policy analysis.
E. To reach a global audience and build an academic community that fosters innovative legal thought focused on justice, fairness, and ethical considerations.
F. To maintain high standards of peer review and editorial integrity while ensuring a transparent and efficient publication process.

II. ELIGIBILITY TO SUBMIT

The Delhi Journal for Law and Justice invites submissions from an inclusive group of authors, subject to authorship and copyright agreements in accordance with the Journal's standard academic publishing guidelines. The Journal invites original, unpublished manuscripts from undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, legal practitioners, and policy practitioners.

Interdisciplinary approaches to law are welcome if they employ an accepted legal methodology. Acceptable methodologies include doctrinal analysis, composite approaches, empirical legal studies, or socio-legal research.

The Journal permits collaborative authorship of a maximum of two authors, promoting collaboration while maintaining clarity regarding responsibility and accountability for jointly submitted work.

III. SUBMISSION CATEGORIES

Manuscripts may be submitted in the following categories:

A. Long Articles:
Submissions should engage comprehensively with a topic and relevant literature.
Word limit: 5,000–8,000 (exclusive of footnotes).

Suggested Structure:

  1. Overview of the development of the area over a specified period.

  2. Critical review of relevant literature.

  3. Conceptual framework adopted by the author(s).

  4. Critical analysis of key issues.

  5. Suggestions for future research.

B. Short Articles:
Concise and focused discussions on relevant themes.
Word limit: 3,000–5,000 (exclusive of footnotes).

C. Legislative / Case Comments:
Critical evaluation of recent judicial decisions or legislation.
Word limit: 1,500–2,000 (exclusive of footnotes).

D. Book Reviews:
Critical assessment of books on law and justice.
Word limit: 1,000–1,200.

SUGGESTED THEMES

This call for papers is open for:

  1. Current legal issues (national or international)

  2. Recent judicial developments

  3. Comparative law

  4. Interdisciplinary legal studies

IV. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

A. All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
B. A maximum of one co-author is allowed, except for Case Comments and Book Reviews, which do not allow co-authorship.
C. Submissions must adhere to the prescribed word limits. A relaxation of up to 500 words may be permitted.
D. Articles must include an abstract of 200–250 words and five keywords.
E. Preference is given to current legal issues and Indian law.
F. Gender-neutral language is encouraged.
G. Authors must confirm no third-party rights infringement.
H. No simultaneous submissions are permitted.
I. Final acceptance rests with the Editorial Board.
J. Non-compliance may lead to rejection.

V. FORMATTING GUIDELINES

  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 spacing

  • Footnotes: Size 10, single spacing

  • Citation: Bluebook (21st Edition)

  • Margins: 1 inch

Headings must follow a uniform structure (I, A, 1, (i)).

VI. SUBMISSION PROCESS

Submissions must be made online via the official DJLJ website.
Deadline: 15th May 2026, 11:59 PM IST

VII. DOUBLE BLIND PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Acknowledgement of receipt is typically sent within 30 days. The review process includes editorial screening and external peer review. Authors may be required to revise their submissions before final acceptance.

VIII. AI AND PLAGIARISM POLICY

Submissions must be original and comply with UGC plagiarism regulations. AI tools may only be used for minor editing (proofreading/rewording), not for content generation.
