The GNLU Legal Incubation Council, in collaboration with the GNLU Centre for Intellectual Property Rights, will organise the second edition of the GLIC IPR and Startup Course, titled “On Empowering Entrepreneurs: Harnessing IPR for Startup Success,” on March 20 and 21, 2026, at Gujarat National Law University (GNLU).
The programme is designed as a short term intensive course aimed at equipping students with practical and strategic insights into the role of Intellectual Property Rights in the startup ecosystem. Recognising that startups are key drivers of innovation and economic growth, the course focuses on enabling participants to understand, protect, and strategically leverage intellectual property assets.
The sessions will cover protection of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets; intellectual property valuation and licensing; enforcement and dispute resolution mechanisms; and the use of IP as a tool to secure competitive advantage and attract investment. The course also seeks to familiarise participants with emerging trends in the entrepreneurial landscape and the growing importance of IP centric business strategies.
The programme will be delivered by leading industry practitioners from reputed intellectual property law firms, providing participants with practical exposure and industry perspectives. In addition, 11 to 13 participants will be shortlisted for internship opportunities during the current year, subject to a two level assessment and interview process.
With limited seats and a merit based selection process, the course aims to foster a strong interface between law, innovation, and entrepreneurship, preparing participants to navigate the evolving startup ecosystem with legal and strategic competence.
