The Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, through its DPIIT-IPR Chair, in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation and IP Laws (CIIPL) and the Centre for Law and Sciences (CLS) under the School of Law and Technology (SLT), is set to organise a ten-day National Faculty Development Programme on “Emerging IP Jurisprudence and Evolving Trends of IP Teaching & Research” from April 6 to April 16, 2026. The programme will be conducted in online mode and aims to provide an in-depth understanding of contemporary developments in intellectual property law and pedagogy.

Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, launched a Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education & Academia (SPRIHA) in the year 2016 under which IPR Chairs have been set up in select universities and academic institutes. This was in accordance National IPR Policy launched by the Government of India in 2016, which proclaims, as one of the objectives under section 7.2 as, “Strengthen IP Chairs in educational institutes of higher learning to provide quality teaching and research, develop teaching capacity and curricula and evaluate their work on performance based criteria." Primary objectives of the Chair under SPRIHA are to encourage the study of, education in and research on IPR, as well as to promote outreach in IP law. HNLU received the prestigious Chair very recently for its progressive IPR curriculum and intensive research initiatives.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The program aims to provide a comprehensive academic platform for faculty members, researchers, and scholars to engage with emerging developments in IP law, contemporary judicial trends, international regulatory frameworks, and evolving research themes. It will bring together leading academicians, policymakers, practitioners, and IP experts to deliberate on diverse dimensions of intellectual property including copyright, patents, trademarks, technology law, digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and global IP governance.

The FDP will also focus on enhancing teaching pedagogy, curriculum design, research strategies, and interdisciplinary engagement in IP law, thereby equipping participants with practical insights and scholarly tools necessary for effective teaching and impactful research in the domain of intellectual property.

The program will consist of 30 contact hours, structured in accordance with the UGC mandate for Faculty Development Programs (as required for Promotions in HEIs), delivered over ten days through two daily academic sessions.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

· To familiarize participants with contemporary developments in IP law, including issues related to artificial intelligence, digital technologies, biotechnology, and data-driven innovation.

· To strengthen teaching methodologies in intellectual property law by introducing innovative pedagogical approaches, case-based teaching, and interdisciplinary perspectives.

· To enhance the research capabilities of faculty members and scholars by discussing evolving themes, research methodologies, and publication strategies in IP scholarship.

· To promote interdisciplinary engagement between law, technology, innovation studies, economics, and public policy in the study of intellectual property.

· To contribute to the strengthening of IP education in India in alignment with national initiatives promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge-based economic growth.
