Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Says Next-Generation Lawyers Will Strengthen Justice Tradition At NLU Delhi Trial Advocacy Competition
National Law University (NLU) Delhi, in collaboration with Think India, concluded the 1st National Trial Advocacy Competition with its valedictory ceremony held on August 9, 2026, at the Moot Court Hall, NLU Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended the event as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering on the theme, "Principles of Governance and the Intersection of Law."
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted the critical role of legal frameworks in effective governance and emphasized the responsibility of young legal professionals to apply their academic knowledge for the welfare of society and contribute towards the vision of a developed India. She said the next generation of lawyers would play a significant role in strengthening the country's justice tradition.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a report on the competition outlining its structure, participation and key highlights.
Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, NLU Delhi, delivered the welcome address and reflected on the importance of trial advocacy in shaping future legal professionals.
Shri Ashish Chauhan, National Organising Secretary, ABVP, also addressed the gathering and spoke on the role of youth as future guardians of rights.
The competition concluded with the prize distribution ceremony. National Law Institute University, Bhopal, emerged as the winners, while the University of Rajasthan finished as the runners-up. Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, won the award for Best Memorial, and Ms. Mansi Dadhich of the National Forensic Sciences University was adjudged the Best Speaker.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Risham Garg, Registrar, NLU Delhi, followed by the National Anthem.
