Justice Rajesh Bindal, Former Supreme Court Judge Joins Parul University As Distinguished Honorary Professor Of Law
Former Supreme Court judge Justice Rajesh Bindal (Retd.) has joined the Parul Institute of Law, Parul University, as Distinguished Honorary Professor of Law. According to the University, the appointment is aimed at strengthening the interface between legal education and judicial practice by exposing students to constitutional adjudication, judicial reasoning, and contemporary legal discourse through interaction with a former judge of the Supreme Court of India.
Justice Bindal served as a judge of the Supreme Court and has been associated with several significant decisions involving constitutional interpretation, statutory construction, and public law principles.
The University stated that his association with the institution is expected to provide students with practical insights into the functioning of the judiciary and the evolving nature of constitutional governance.
Justice Bindal has also emphasised the importance of balancing constitutional rights with corresponding duties. In previous public interactions, he observed that public discourse often focuses on the assertion of rights without adequate attention to civic and constitutional responsibilities.
The University noted that such perspectives would help promote critical thinking, ethical sensitivity, and professional responsibility among law students.
Parul University further stated that the engagement is intended to be a continuing academic association focused on bridging institutional experience with legal scholarship and classroom learning.
The announcement was accompanied by a ceremonial welcome attended by Mr. Shubhank Khare, Assistant Director, Faculty of Law, Parul University, along with Ms. Nivvedita Chauhan, Managing Partner, Ms. Komal Singh, Associate Partner, and Ms. Tanvi Mahajan, Junior Partner at NC Legal Advocates and Solicitors.
The University stated that the collaboration forms part of its broader effort to strengthen legal education and academic engagement with members of the judiciary and legal profession.
