KIIT School Of Law Commemorates 76 Years Of Indian Constitution

KIIT School of Law, KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, commemorated 76 years of the Indian Constitution on 26 November 2025 with a special ceremony themed “The Constitution Beyond 75: Reflect. Reform. Reaffirm.” The event, organised by the KIIT Centre for Constitutional Law Studies & Research (CCLSR), brought together students, faculty, and dignitaries to celebrate the Constitution's enduring relevance.

The programme began with a Welcome Address by Prof. Raju K.D., Pro Vice-Chancellor, KIIT University, followed by a solemn reading of the Preamble by Dr. Tulishree Pradhan, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Constitutional Law. Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, KIIT University, addressed the gathering and underscored the importance of constitutional literacy and the role of legal education in fostering a just society.

Justice Indira Banerjee, Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, delivered the Chief Guest's Address. As the eighth woman judge to serve on the Supreme Court, she has contributed to over 500 judgments, including nearly 90 authored decisions that continue to shape Indian jurisprudence. She described the Constitution as a people-centric framework upholding justice and equality, emphasised society's collective responsibility in safeguarding the rule of law, and encouraged students to promote legal awareness and strengthen its implementation.

Guest of Honour Dr. Manoj Kumar, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department), joined remotely. He highlighted that the Constitution represents India's living journey toward justice and progress, sustained by the people's unwavering commitment to its core values.

The event was attended by Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT University, senior faculty of the law school, and enthusiastic students from both KIIT School of Law and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).

A note of gratitude was offered to Founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta, in absentia, for his continuous guidance and support.

The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Shashank Nande, Assistant Professor and Faculty Convenor of CCLSR, followed by the KIIT Anthem, uniting all attendees together in pride and commitment to the Constitution.
