RGNUL Hosts 2nd National Panel Discussion On Indian Knowledge System

The Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (CIIPR), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, along with Indian Knowledge System (IKS), in collaboration with Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, Punjab Prant, organised the 2nd National Panel Discussion on April 9, 2026, at RGNUL, Punjab.

The event was held on the occasion of the 57th Sthapana Divas of Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal and was centred on the theme, “The Role of Youth in the Promotion, Protection, and Management of Bharatiya Gyan Sampada.” The discussion brought together academicians, researchers, and institutional leaders to deliberate on engaging youth in the preservation and advancement of India's indigenous intellectual and cultural heritage.

The programme commenced with the recitation of Dhey Shlok and Dhey Vakya, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp and an inaugural welcome address by Prof. Dr. Naresh Vats, Dean Academics and Coordinator of CIIPR. In his address, Prof. Vats emphasised the need to trust and motivate youth to take ownership of Vision Viksit Bharat 2047 with the help of Bharatiya Gyan Sampada.

The event was attended by dignitaries from academia and institutions. The discourse began with an address by Dr. Ashok Thakur Ji, Punjab University-Chandigarh, Saha-Mantri, Punjab Prant, Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal. This was followed by Prof. Dr. Dilip Kumar, Director, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Jammu, and Sanyojak Uttar Kshetra, Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, who was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Dilip Kumar emphasised the importance of connectivity, relationship-building, and increased research for societal interest.

The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, and Adhyaksh, Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, Punjab Prant. He stated that IIT has developed an AI for Agriculture LLM model aimed at assisting farmers with new technologies.

The session concluded with the address by the Chief Guest, Prof. B.K. Kuthiala, Director, Panchnad Research Institute, and former Vice-Chancellor, MCNUJC, Bhopal. He highlighted the need to balance ecology within discussions on indigenous systems.

The discussion included multidisciplinary perspectives spanning law, mass communication, technology, and indigenous knowledge systems, and addressed how such systems have existed in India since ancient times and their integration with education policy. During the programme, the Chief Guest also presented a book to Prof. Dr. Naresh Vats as a token of appreciation.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ivneet Kaur Walia, Registrar, RGNUL, followed by the Shanti Mantra.

The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Jai S. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, RGNUL, as Chief Patron. Prof. Dr. Naresh Vats, Dean Academics, and Dr. Ivneet Walia, Registrar, RGNUL, served as Patrons. The programme was conducted with the support of faculty coordinators Dr. Shveta Dhaliwal, Dr. Abhinandan Bassi, Dr. Basant Singh, Mr. Anubhav Kumar, Mr. Siddhartha Fuller, and Mr. Saurabh Sharma.
