WBNUJS Team Emerges Quarter-Finalist At LawInSport's 7th Sports Law Arbitration Moot Held At CAS, Lausanne
The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, secured a Quarter-Finalist position at the 7th Sports Law Arbitration Moot organised by LawInSport at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The prestigious competition witnessed participation from 77 teams representing more than 30 countries, with rounds judged by practicing CAS lawyers and arbitrators.
Representing India in the offline rounds was the WBNUJS team comprising Aanya Arora (Year I) and Akriti Lamba (Year I). After successfully advancing through rigorous preliminary online rounds, the duo emerged as Quarter-Finalists, marking the university's best-ever performance at the competition.
The moot proposition for both the preliminary and final rounds centred on doping violations and required participants to extensively engage with sports law jurisprudence and the World Anti-Doping Code. The issues involved questions relating to intent, negligence, and procedural fairness in anti-doping proceedings.
The competition provided participants with exposure to international sports arbitration practices and the functioning of the CAS framework in resolving sports-related disputes.
