COVID-19: Patna HC Judges To Contribute Rs 10000 Each Towards PM's Emergency Assistance Fund [Read Notice]

Keeping in view the projections on account of COVID-19 pandemic, the Judges of the Patna High Court have decided to contribute a sum of Rs. 10,000/- each towards the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund' (PM CARES Fund).
The same was intimated today by way of a notice which states,
"Keeping in view the trying times, when the nation is in lockdown, the Hon'ble Judges, in furtherance of the primary objective of the PM CARES Fund of dealing with any kind of emergency or distress situation, like the one posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and to provide relief to the affected, have arrived at a consensus to make voluntary donation of a sum of Rs.10,000/- each towards the "Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation Fund" by any mode including issuing a Cheque in favour of the "PM CARES FUND"."
Accordingly, the Registrar General of the High Court has been directed to take all appropriate steps for depositing the Cheques.
The notice also clarifies that the Judges, who may voluntarily want to contribute more, may enhance the amount.
Earlier today, Former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Deepak Verma had also announced that he will contribute a sum of Rupees Fifty One Lakh to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, in view of the Coronavirus crisis.
Similarly, the Full Court of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir had also resolved to contribute certain fixed amounts for the welfare of the affected persons. The Judges had thereof contributed Rs. 25,000 each.
