The High Court of Kerala has clarified that it will take up extremely urgent matters via video conferencing amid the court shutdown announced in the wake of national lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chief Justice has constituted a division bench comprising Justices A K Jayasankaran Nambiar and Shaji P Chaly for urgent matters through video conferencing.

Earlier, the Court had declared suspension of its operations till April 14. However, there was no mention regarding any provision for urgent hearing. The High Court also passed an order on March 25, extending the life of all interim orders by one month.

A notice issued by the HC on Saturday mentioned that a full bench comprising Justices C K Abdul Rehim, C T Ravikumar and Raja Vijayaraghavan will convene on March 30 at 10.30 AM for a review, if any, of the order passed on March 25.

The notice has an annexure detailing the procedure for e-filing and video-conferencing.

Advocates have to first sent an email to the registry at "casefiling.hc-ker@kerala.gov.in" seeking request for filing, by stating the urgency of the matter, and filing and hearing can follow once the permission is granted.
