A court in Kerala on Friday (May 16) has remanded advocate Beyline Das, who is accused of physically assaulting his female junior advocate and who was arrested today, to 14-day judicial custody till May 30.

The accused was remanded by Judicial First Class Magistrate, Thiruvananthapuram Revitha K.G.

Advocate Dileep Sathyan, who is representing the accused, confirmed that the bail application is still pending and was partially heard today by the Court. The case is posted tomorrow for further hearing and for the police report.

In the bail application, the accused has taken the plea that he was provoked by the de facto complainant and has himself sustained assault at her hands, leading to loss of hearing and infection in his ears.

Following the allegations, the Trivandrum Bar Association had earlier suspended him and the Bar Council of Kerala had decided to restrict him from appearing before any court, Tribunal or authority pending disciplinary proceedings against him.
