The Supreme Court collegium has sent back all 7 names recommended by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on November 24, 2017 for elevation as judges.

The HC collegium had recommended the names of following advocates for appointment as HC judges :

  1. Sukant Gupta,
  2. Sanjay Vashisth,
  3. Jasdeep Singh Gill,
  4. Mansur Ali,
  5. Sunil Kumar Singh Panwar,
  6. Deepinder Singh Nalwa, and
  7. Harsh Bunger.

Earlier, the collegium had decided on September 4 to defer consideration of these names.

On examining the material on record and the observations made by the Department of Justice, the SC collegium consisting of CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices Sikri and Ramana decided on January 16 to remit all the names to the High Court.
