Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar has sent P Chidambaram to judicial custody till November 27 in ED matter against him in INX Media case.

Due to the strikes at district courts in Delhi, Chidambaram could not be produced before the court in person. Therefore, an arrangement of video-conferencing had to be made to from Tihar jail, to conduct the proceedings.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court had reserved order on Chidambaram's bail application in the present matter. Therefore, it implies that Chidambaram will have to stay in custody till he receives any relief from the Delhi High Court.

The CBI had registered an FIR on May 15, 2017, alleging irregularities in the clearance granted by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to the INX Media group for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during Chidambaram's tenure as the finance minister.

The Enforcement Directorate subsequently had lodged a money laundering case in this regard in 2017.
