Supreme Court Declares August 27 Holiday; August 22 To Be Working Day Instead
The Supreme Court has declared August 27, 2026 (Thursday) a holiday for the Court and its Registry following a request from the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA).
The decision was approved by the Full Court, according to a circular issued by the Supreme Court's Administrative General Branch on August 14.
As a consequence, August 22, 2026 (Saturday) has been declared a full working day for the Supreme Court and its Registry in lieu of the August 27 holiday.
The circular further states that the Registry offices will function until 5 pm on August 22.
The additional holiday falls between two other holidays in the Supreme Court's calendar. August 26 is a holiday on account of Milad-un-Nabi, while August 28 is a holiday on account of Raksha Bandhan.
The arrangement effectively gives the Supreme Court a three-day holiday period from August 26 to August 28, while requiring the Court and Registry to compensate for the additional holiday by working on the preceding Saturday.
