TSLSA Organises Essay Writing & Reel-Making Competitions To Mark National Girl Child Day 2026

As part of the celebration of National Girl Child Day–2026, the Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) organized Essay Writing and Reel-Making Competitions for law college students across the State to promote awareness on the protection and rights of the girl child.

The competitions were conducted pursuant to the directions of Justice P. Sam Koshy, Judge, High Court for the State of Telangana and Executive Chairman, TSLSA. The theme of the competitions was “Protection and Rights of the Girl Child”, with the sub-theme “Ending Violence, Ensuring Justice for the Girl Child”, under the title “Committed to the Cause.” The reel-making competition was limited to a duration of five minutes.

Law students from colleges functioning in 13 districts of Telangana, namely Medchal–Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Sangareddy, Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Hanumakonda, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Siddipet, and Ranga Reddy, participated in the competitions.

The events were conducted from the district level to the state level in accordance with the guidelines and timelines prescribed by the Executive Chairman, TSLSA. The respective District Legal Services Authorities organized the competitions in their jurisdictions, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students.

At the district level, winners and runners-up of the Essay Writing Competition were awarded law books and appreciation certificates by the Chairpersons of the respective District Legal Services Authorities. Similarly, winners and runners-up of the Reel-Making Competition were presented with appreciation certificates and mementos.

At the state-level Essay Writing Competition, Ms. Zuberia Begum, 1st-year LL.B. student of Satavahana University, Karimnagar, secured the First Prize, while Ms. Ponnam Shruti, student of the University College of Law, Kakatiya University, Warangal, secured the Second Prize.

In the state-level Reel-Making Competition, Vishwa Bharathi Law College, Sangareddy, secured the First Prize for its short reel on “Child Education”, and Aurora's Legal Sciences Institute, Nalgonda, secured the Second Prize.

On 26 January 2026, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of the High Court for the State of Telangana and Patron-in-Chief, Telangana State Legal Services Authority, graciously distributed certificates to the winners and runners-up of the Essay Writing and Reel-Making Competitions on the occasion of Republic Day, at the High Court premises, Hyderabad.
