After a Supreme Court staffer was tested positive with the deadly novel Coronavirus infection, 36 police personnel deployed for Supreme Court security have been quarantined basis contact-tracing. 

The quarantined personnel are from Delhi Police, who had been deployed for purposes of Supreme Court security and came in contact with the COVID positive Registry staffer of the Top Court.

Efforts were underway for tracing the persons who came into contact with the staffer.

As per sources, the Section IV employee who was tested positive on Monday nigh had been admitted to government hospital for treatment.

Following this, two other Registrars were asked to go into quarantine.

The employee had last reported to work on April 16.

The family of the employee was also put into home quarantine.

The SC is expected to issue an official confirmation of this development soon, and is likely to undertake sanitisation and fumigation process in the court premises in consultation with experts.
