The Supreme Court on Friday refrained from interfering with the policy decision of the Kerala Government to demand COVID-19 test for persons to return from Middle Eastern countries in private chartered flights.
Disposing of writ petition filed by one KSR Menon, the SC said that it is open for the petitioner to represent the matter to the Kerala Government and that it is for the Government to take a decision on the same at the earliest.
The bench, headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan, also said that the petitioner can represent before the Ministry of External Affairs as well.
The petitioner challenged the communication dated 11.06.2020, issued by the Principal Secretary,Secretariat of Industries and NORKA Department, Government of Kerala, to the Central Government seeking steps for COVID19 tests for those embarking chartered flights from Gulf nations.
The Kerala HC is also considering the same issue in a PIL.
