Former CJI BR Gavai Appointed As Dr BR Ambedkar Chair Professor At NALSAR

Former CJI BR Gavai has been appointed as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair Professor on Constitutional Law and Social Inclusion at NALSAR, Hyderabad.

As per the official press release, “Justice Gavai will head the activities of the Chair, including research, teaching, and academic initiatives in the areas of constitutional law, access to justice, and social inclusion.”

The press release also stated that the University has appointed Dr. Anurag Bhaskar, former Director of the Centre for Research and Planning, Supreme Court of India, and an academician, as Visiting Adjunct Professor of Law at NALSAR University and Director of the Chair.

The University has also appointed Senior Advocate K. Parameshwar as Adjunct Professor, who will be associated with and contribute to the academic, research, and outreach activities of the Chair.

The Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Chair on Constitutional Law and Social Inclusion has been established with financial support from the Government of Telangana. The University will shortly initiate the activities of the Chair, including the recruitment of a dedicated team of researchers, the launch of thematic research projects, academic programmes, policy-oriented studies, and public engagement initiatives aligned with the Chair's mandate.

The letter of appointment was formally handed over by the Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR University, Professor Shri Krishna Deva Rao, to Justice Gavai at his residence in New Delhi today. Justice PS Narasimha was also present on the occasion.
