NEET-UG PaperLeak : Live Updates From Supreme Court On Plea For NTA Reforms
The Supreme Court will hear today a batch of petitions seeking the dissolution of the National Testing Agency and an overhaul of the entrance examination system in the country, in the wake of the leakage of the NEET-UG 2026 papers.
A bench comprising Justice PS Narasimha and Justice Alok Aradhe will hear the matters.
The bench, in a hearing held in May, after interacting with the expert committee constituted by the Supreme Court in 2024 for NEET reforms, had sought the affidavits from the Union Ministries. "The affidavit shall indicate the method by which regulating and supervising authorities of NEET examination can develop and retain institutional memory so that they can act on the basis of the experience, data, and information they have gathered and processed with each examination cycle. The endeavour must be to ensure that the National Testing Agency has the wherewithal, physical and intellectual, to prevent incidents such as the 2024 or 2026 examinations from occurring in the future," the Court had directed.
The petitions are filed by United Doctors Front, Federation of All India Medical Association, and certain individuals.

J narasimha: computer assistence is another thing, committee has spoken about this. this falls into the same category as: if you digitise it, how will you secure it? post examination measures, how will you take it? you have not indicated.

J Narasimha: We have indicated various verticals digital transparency etc. administration and human recourses, the third thing is about collaboration.
Third thing, pre examination, during exam and post. pre-exam, testing modulaties bodies conducting the exam- state and district level composition and what progress is made. multiple session testing, you have to indicate. JEE follows one system; you need to check it up if you want to follow it.

Mehta: students future can't be jeoparised, we are going beyond the radhakrishan committee
J Narasimha: we expect something, another important thing that there is transition to computer based testing. leak could occur when data is not safe. we are spending time in institutionalising it. its a suggestion to shift to computer based testing- tell us the proposal, the cyber security and how it is to be conducted.

Justice Narasimha: we want to highlight few things. last time we mentioned about Radhakrishan committee, we made reference to governing board and this would comprise of transparency, nomination and stakeholders. domain specific requirment, you have highlighted IIT has been considered; you have not indicated how.
Mehta: something beyond committee report may also be possible.
