The Supreme Court has taken up a suo motu case over the 'suspicious death' of judicial officer Aman Sharma, who was found to have died by suicide in May at his South Delhi residence, following alleged harassment by his judicial officer-wife and in-laws.

A bench of CJI Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana issued notice in the case and called for a status report from the investigating agency.

To recap, the deceased was a 2018 graduate who joined Delhi Judicial Services in 2021. He was serving as Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at Karkardooma Courts since October 2025. He was found dead at his residence on May 2. Following the death, his family alleged that he had been under duress for about 2 months due to harassment by his wife and in-laws.
