Belles Lettres: The J. E. Dastur Memorial Government Law College Short Fiction Essay Writing Competition

Each year, the Magazine Committee of the Government Law College, Mumbai, organizes a national level fiction essay writing competition, Belles Lettres: The J. E. Dastur Memorial Fiction Essay Writing Competition. The Magazine Committee of the Government Law College now invites entries for the same.

Aim:

The competition aims at identifying and acknowledging talent from all parts of the country, encouraging the student community across regional, class and other barriers, to express themselves and showcase their literary flair, and to uphold the power of the written word.

The topics this year are as follows (Choose any one of the following):



  1. Incorporate the following sentence anywhere in your story: “Glory arrives on the wings of doom”

  2. Build your story around the following characters in the given situation: Elon Musk, Dalai Lama and Yogi Adityanath held hostage by an international extremist organisation

  3. Incorporate all of the following objects in your story: Key to Room No. 101, Fireplace, A vinyl record player

  4. Build a story revolving around the image you can find in the poster.


Submissions:



  • Word Limit: 1500-3500 words


Important Date: The deadline for entries is 31st December, 2017

Prizes:



  • 1st Place: Rs. 8000/-

  • 2nd Place: Rs. 6000/-

  • 3rd Place: Rs. 4000/-
