The Bombay High Court is set to decide on perjury allegations against Ministry of Defence on an Application under Section 340 of the Code of Criminal Procedure filed by Pune based builder Mr. Haresh Milani.

The matter concerns a land dispute between Mr. Milani and the Defence Ministry. As per a press release by Mr. Milani, the land in question is located in Viman Nagar, Pune, and is worth Rs. 1000 crores. The Defence Estate Officer, however, claimed that the land had been acquired by it.

Mr. Milani had challenged this claim before the District Court, Pune, wherein the Collector was directed to submit a report in this regard. On a perusal of this report, the District Court had ruled against the Centre. This order was then challenged before the High Court.

However, Mr. Milani has now accused the Defence Ministry of perjury, asserting that it has falsely claimed ownership of the land before the Court. The Centre, on the other hand, has alleged that the application is a dilatory tactic on the part of the applicant.

The Court, however, ruled that the application under Section 340 would be heard before hearing the Writ Petition filed by the Centre.

The matter has now been adjourned to 20 June.
