While hearing Public Interest Litigation filed before the Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justice RS Endlaw of the Delhi high court, advocate Kirti Singh stated the remarks made by the CBI director in November, when he compared betting to rape, and the comments made by the Andhra DGP regarding women’s clothing, and thus, asked the Central government to expeditiously inspect the demand for forming guidelines for the regulation of conduct of public servants towards women outside the workplace.

The PIL has been filed seeking the suspension of the CBI director for his remarks, and also demands have been made to amend the service rules for senior officials. Considering the remarks made by senior officials against the dignity of women, the PIL also sought for guidelines to be framed to control the conduct of public servants towards women outside of the workplace.

The Court, however, did not make any comment on the demand for suspension of the CBI director, but it has asked the Central government to look into provisions regarding service rules.
